Robby and Mauri found each other in a slightly different way for our generation - a good old-fashioned (semi) blind date. It all started with Tawnya (Robby’s boss) and Lori (Mauri’s mom).
In July of 2022, Kory, Lori, JD, and Tawnya went to a James Taylor concert together. Tawnya learned Mauri was single and this set Tawyna’s matchmaking gears in motion. Tawyna mentioned this girl that Robby needed to meet a few times shortly after. She was relentlessly texting Lori for photos of Mauri. Tawnya even shared some very professional greenhouse shots with Robby and some coworkers.
Now, Robby had no interest being set up, let alone being set up by his boss. It was finally on a trip to Gunnison where Tawnya showed him these photos of Mauri and he was sold on the spot. His boss had been hiding this Viking princess from him this whole time? “And by the way, she dirt bikes too,” Tawnya added. It was at that moment that Robby learned that unicorns do in fact exist.
Tawnya shared all the positive qualities of Robby and a few more lettuce and fish-filled photos with Mauri, and she agreed to meet this mysterious cook/greenhouse-farm-builder man.
Robby and Mauri call their first date "the business meeting". Both parties were very busy – Robby was preparing to leave the state for three weeks of work and vacation and Mauri had plans each night that week after work. Tawyna was adamant they meet before Robby left the state, so the two made it work on a Monday afternoon in mid-August at Green Mountain Brewery. Mauri was flying high from closing on her house just a few hours earlier. Mauri arrived at the business meeting first (quite unlike her to be early) and was immediately impressed with Robby’s enthusiasm and how interested he was to learn about her. Robby was awestruck instantly by her enthusiastic smile and graceful confidence. They both left the hour long business meeting first date smiling and excited to see each other again.
Date two was a hike on North Table Mountain, a beer at New Terrain, great conversation (one of the topics being Kesha, Robby’s idol), and ended with a cheeky parking lot smooch. Date three is where Mauri decided she could enjoy life with this guy. Robby took her on a Mountain Bike ride (where she learned how to crack-and-pass) and to the World Famous Dark Horse for dinner (don’t worry, she certainly walked in the wrong bathroom). Robby and Mauri balanced the work and the fun early on in their relationship - Robby braved scraping the popcorn ceilings in Mauri’s house and they went dirt bike riding together for the first time the day after. They decided that they had a good thing going and made it “official” October 4, 2022.
Robby and Mauri’s relationship continued to grow through renovations in both of their houses, a job change, as well as skiing and camping trips. One snowy March day, Robby told Mauri he loved her on the bridge in Nederland after skiing and pizza. Mauri reciprocated and just like that, they were stuck together.
After a couple of years they decided to move in together, where Mauri discovered the need for alone time and Robby learned to close dresser drawers for the first time. On October 1, 2025, Robby asked Mauri to go on a “Dirt Bike Date Night” – a frequent occurrence in the household where they ride to various destinations and get a bite to eat. Robby brought Mauri to their favorite campsite (“sunrise-sunset campsite”) on Switzerland Trail in Boulder. Upon arrival he asked her to take photos of the scenery and as she was doing so, walked up behind her and told her to turn around. After trying to walk away, she finally turned around and was ecstatic to see Robby on one knee where he popped the question. She said “of course of course of course!”

We cannot be more excited to share this moment in our lives with each of you. It’s all of you and our experiences together that made us the people we are today. We’re eager to start this next chapter of our lives together and celebrate our love in the mountains of Colorado. As I hope you can tell, October is an important month to us!

Robby is from Cos Cob, Connecticut, but he would sooner tell you he is from Vinalhaven, Maine - a small island 15 miles into the Atlantic ocean where his family has frequented since his mom was a child. He learned a love for the outdoors through growing up in the Boy Scouts, spending time on the ocean. He went to college in Ithaca, New York, where he learned to race downhill skateboards, cook, oh - and received degrees in environmental studies and economics. After a road trip with a friend out west and visiting Boulder for only 24 hours, he decided to move there in 2016 after graduation. Since being in Colorado, he has worked at The Aquaponic Source as the Director of Sales & Product Development designing and building aquaponic farms across North America. You can find Robby cooking, mountain biking, skiing, skateboarding, dirt biking, or wrenching on things in the garage.
Mauri is from the suburbs of Denver, Colorado and has spent time in the mountains since her first camping trip at 3 weeks old. She grew up camping, hunting, and chasing her younger sister, Bailey on dirt bikes. Colorado State University stole Mauri’s heart and luckily had the programs she committed to early in her college career - Biomedical and Mechanical engineering. The college years brought a lot of studying, tears, as well as some amazing friends and a stay in Adelaide, South Australia (just ask her, she would love to tell you about it!). After college, she landed her first job as an R&D Engineer at Medtronic working on minimally invasive surgical devices. She is now a project manager for the same company. Mauri loves to hike, read, dirt bike, camp, ski, and simply be moving in some way.
